At VMH we think that Edinburgh is one of the best places to live! If you don’t live in the capital, Edinburgh is still a fantastic city for a day trip. Why? There’s always so much going on and there’s always an event for everyone.
From gin enthusiasts to music fanatics, take a look at our top five events in Edinburgh, 2018.
Red Red Rose Street
In celebration of the 259th birthday of Scotland’s national poet, the ‘Red Red Rose Street’ festival returns to celebrate the life of Rabbie Burns. In Edinburgh we like a good party so instead of just celebrating Burn’s night you can join us for three days of celebrations between January 25th-27th.
There’s a whole host of free and ticketed events on offer spread right across Rose Street. These vary from classic Burns’ suppers to traditional live music and theatre. If you fancy taking part in a ceilidh and enjoying the best of the poet’s work, you can get more information here.
Hidden Door Festival
In 2018, Edinburgh will see the return of the Hidden Door Festival, a non-profit festival celebrating local talent. The festival aims to open up urban spaces as a platform for new and emerging artists, musicians, theatre makers, film makers and poets.
To take part in the 10-day festival of the best up-and-coming artists and performers the capital has to offer, get along to Leith Theatre between 25th May – 3rd June.
Scottish Gin Fest
Gin has exploded in popularity in recent years and in 2018, Edinburgh will co-host Scotland’s biggest gin festival: Scot Gin Fest. This event gives you the opportunity to get a masterclass in the best of Scottish gin and sample over 20 different tipples.
This year the event takes place in The Caves and with tickets starting from just £16.50, this is one event in Edinburgh you won’t want to miss….
Tough Mudder’s Cousin in the City
The infamous obstacle course visits Edinburgh this year, with the beautiful Holyrood Park being transformed into a 5K nightmare. If you’re feeling brave enough, you and a team of mates can take on the challenge on August 25th. If there’s a mini-mudder in the family, there is a smaller 1k obstacle course available for children aged 7-12.
The perfect event in Edinburgh, 2018, to get the blood pumping.
Jazz and Blues Festival
Everyone knows that the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is a great time to visit the city but why not try the Jazz and Blues Festival in 2018? This festival takes place just before the Fringe between July 13th – 22nd. Every year Edinburgh is filled with some of the best Jazz musicians from across the world playing in venues across the city.
This is the biggest festival of its kind in the UK and is the perfect time for any music lovers to visit the city.
